GRACO CAR SEAT RECALL: YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!

POSTED BY SAM MUKERJI ON February 28, 2014

Graco, a brand of baby products owned by Newell Rubbermaid, issued a voluntary recall of 3.7 million car seats. After extensive research, testing and listening to complaints, Graco identified that the current car seat buckles on all toddler convertible car seats and harnessed booster seats can become difficult to open and even get stuck in the latched position over time – especially if they have buildup from foods and liquids.

The problem does not alter the effectiveness to of the buckle or affect the performance of the car seat. However, it is causing frustration with parents, some of which have resorted to cutting the straps to get their kids out of the car seat.

The only buckles affected by the recall are the Signature and the QT buckles on Convertible and Harnessed Booster car seats. If your car seat has a square red button, it is already equipped with a new, non-defective buckle.

Graco has issued a video to help unbuckle stuck belt buckles.

Cleaning may help prevent problems associated with the recall. Watch the video below for cleaning instructions.
